As parents, friends and many former girlfriends will attest, I'm a
stubborn sort. As a kid I hated being told what to do without specific
reason. As an adult (chronologically) I still hate being told
what to do without specific reason. Imposing your desires upon another
is patently rude and highly discourteous. The only reason for doing so
lies in the attempt to gain control.
This is why I work alone, live in a ghost town, and spend most of my
time with White Dog, Red Dog and (my newest addition to the family)
Boris the Malamute. I've ended most romantic AND business
relationships about three seconds after someone attempted to alter my
life for their own designs. Such actions indicate a lack of urbanity.
My parent's opinion is welcome, and good friends can make suggestions,
but this dispensation is given because my parents and friends are a
smart and perceptive bunch. Also, they are incredibly valuable to me,
and some of the few people I really love besides my dogs. Our mutual
respect makes non-civilized actions virtually impossible. When family
or friends give editorial comment I know it is done out of concern
rather than control.
Our federal government implements the opposite methodology. Control is
foremost and concern non-existent. This ugly trait - not liberal or
conservative bickering - is why I despise the federal government, and
especially such lying felons as the Clintons and the Gores and their
boot-licking liberal lackeys (Yes Mr. Loserman...that would be you).
Their every word and action seems designed not to secure individual
liberty but rather to curtail it, to fix that which is not broken, to
micro-manage our lives.
Hating governmental nonsense is as close as I get to a bipartisan
argument. Politically, I have little truck with the dominant parties.
Sometimes Jesse Helms strikes me as a tad left wing, other times I
could make a liberal blush. If you want definition, call me an
ultra-conservative/super liberal. Call me a Social Darwinist. Call men
anything you like, just don't call me late for dinner.
For example, I'm against gun laws because the concept of controlling
weapons implies I'm a potential criminal too stupid to know right from
wrong. The inherently ridiculous fallacy is that a criminal would
actually care about or acknowledge gun laws. Somehow I doubt that the
person who shoots up a schoolyard gives a flip about registration.
Guns aren't the problem - dynamite, poison, knives or chainsaws are
capable of far more human devastation than your average semi-auto
assault weapon – and are used regularly. I don't see us outlawing
the Chicago Cutlery because a miscreant misuses it.
Anti-social activity is caused by a lack of responsibility,
forethought and compassion, not guns. Interestingly, the national
stats consistently indicate that crime rates are lower in areas with
lax concealed weapons laws than in places where guns are banned.
Obviously an armed society is a polite society, though you won't hear
that on CBS, NBC or Al's Broadcasting Company. They know about it, but
were so busy trying to help throw an election that it completely
slipped their minds to bring it up.
The wise old white guys who wrote the Constitution intended to
separate government and private life. They realized people
occasionally do dumb things, but also realized that, given freedom,
people occasionally do smart things. The founders laid a basic
framework and, in effect, told us we were free to succeed or fail
without the obtrusive gaze of Big Bro. What they really said is that
the cost of action is reaction. They knew the best way to govern was
to rarely make decisions, allowing issues to work themselves out on a
social/local level. They knew that government nitpicking gums up the
machinery.
The folks who stuck that big Motel 6 sign in front of The White House
feel different. They want us to embrace their version of common sense,
function solely according to their warped sensibilities, and face
consequences based upon enforced fealty to their Messianic overtures.
These folks care nothing about our lives. They care only about looking
good, lying well, buying themselves a legacy with public funds and, in
the case Al Gore, stomping into the dust anyone who disagrees with his
slightest maniacal whim or criticizes his taste in black lace panty
hose.
Personally, I always support those candidates who will have the least
impact on my life. That's why I generally support conservatives. The
lefties demand that I embrace all sorts of perversions and give up my
freedoms, whereas those on the right are more concerned with a healthy
economy, a strong military and individual responsibility. It's much
easier to be in favor of a good bottom line and cool handguns than it
is to listen to Rosie O'Donnell spout off about how we should all
celebrate the diversity of same-sex/different species marriage.
Freedom is the foundation of our country; it allows the possibility of
both triumph and disaster. Freedom is also scary and requires thought.
But without it, we have the potential to achieve nothing. Which is exactly what the power mad leaders of the left think you deserve. Click Here to receive Political USA updates and exclusives Today's featured
